I found this cute hexagon hole punch online and wanted to try out some fun DIY art pieces. Lately, I’ve been seeing DIY hexagon/honeycomb shelves — I think they look so exciting and sleek, but wood working isn’t something i’m familiar with but I still love the honeycomb accent, so I thought this was a cool idea.
I made these cute canvas honeycomb art pieces and I am in love. With spring coming up, I chose greens and blues for a “nature” vibe and I added a silver glitter pop to make it a little more interesting.
These were so simple and inexpensive to make. All you need is:
First off, I’m so excited about this hexagon hole punch — I started looking for a heart shaped hole punch for a Valentine’s Day project and came across this hexagon shape. Of course, you can create this project with any shape paper you want, but I love the way the honeycomb shapes line up and geometric shapes have been very on trend lately.
This punch is the extra large size and the hexagons have 1″ sides — perfect for this type of project or even for decorating my Erin Condren planner/scrapbooking. You just pop in your paper and squeeze the grips to punch out the shape. There is a smaller sized punch available too which could be perfect for a smaller scaled project or a more detailed design.
I used the hexagon punch to create the honeycomb shape in each of the colored sheets and glitter paper. The glitter paper was much thicker than the colored card stock, so I was careful to not break the punch.
Once I had all of the honeycomb shapes ready, I just laid them out in a random design on my canvas. I used two 11″ x 14″ canvases and I cut up the hexagons in half for the edge pieces. I glued the card stock pieces to the canvas with tacky glue and lightly pressed the edges to make sure everything was secure.
I really love the way it turned out!
