With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I started looking for a fun DIY I could do for my mom — something thoughtful that she would enjoy and that would be fun to make. I found a bunch of ideas on Pinterest, but the paper flower idea seemed most fun.
I’ve made paper flowers before and I think they turned out quite nice. This time, I’ve decided on a spiral-rose paper flower. Beyond easy to make and you only need a few items:
To start, just cut out a large circle from your colored paper. I used pinks and purples for my spiral roses. The circle doesn’t need to be perfect, but you could use a stencil if you want your flowers to be very uniform.
Then, cut the circle into a spiral starting on the outside edge and working your way toward the middle. It doesn’t matter really how thick the spiral is & I found that your flower will actually look quite interesting if the spiral has different thicknesses.
Once you get close to the center, stop cutting. Get out your pen/pencil and use it to roll the paper around. Once you get the roll started, you can just use your hands if that’s easier until the end and the roll is tight.
Once you’re done rolling, loosen the roll and you’ll see the flower shape.
Take your hot glue and squees some on the flat “center” part of the flower & press the spiral part into the glue.
Glue on your stem/flower wire with hot glue and hold in place until the glue dries.
Your beautiful flowers are done and will last forever. ❤
