Valentine’s Day is one of my favorites. I love everything pink and all of the cute new products that LUSH releases each year. Check out my LUSH Valentine’s Day haul from 2015, or see my recipe to make your own Unicorn Horn bubble bar. I can’t wait for my LUSH to release the new Valentine’s products in store this year; I’ll definitely be posting a haul. But until then, I decided to make my own Valentine’s Day bath bombs and they turned out so cute. See the recipe to these super sweet heart-shaped and regular bath bombs here:

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN VALENTINE’S DAY BATH BOMBS
1. SIFT DRY INGREDIENTS TOGETHER
Measure out all of your dry ingredients and sift them together into a large bowl. Whisk everything together to get it fully combined. Your bath bomb mixture will be very soft and light at this time.
2. COMBINE WET INGREDIENTS
In a separate bowl, combine all of your wet ingredients together. You can use fragrance oil or essential oils to get the desired fragrance for your bath bombs. I always try to make my bath bombs smell as much like LUSH as I can, so I like to experiment with different combinations of essential oils. Once of my favorite scents is Bergamot, but for these bath bombs I chose a vanilla fragrance oil. It smells sweet and just reminds me of a Valentine’s Day smell.
3. ADD WET INGREDIENTS TO THE DRY INGREDIENTS >> SLOWLY
This step is key — you cannot add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients all at once or it will start to fizz and your bath bombs won’t turn out right. Don’t cut corners, and slowly add a little bit of the wet ingredients into the dry and mix together. Once that little bit of the wet is fully incorporated into the dry, add a little more and mix completely. This part takes the longest but if you want your bath bombs to work right, you have to take your time.
4. SEPARATE THE MIXTURE + ADD COLORING
When all of the wet ingredients are incorporated into the dry, it should be the consistency of wet sand. It should still be fluffy and soft, but when you squeeze it in your hand, you should see it stick together. Separate the mixture into a different bowl for each color of food coloring you are using. I also just kept a bowl of the bath bomb mixture without any color because I though the white looked nice with my Valentine’s Day colors. Add 4-9 drops of food coloring into each bowl to get the desired color. You don’t want the mixture to become too wet with food coloring, so only use enough coloring to get the color you want — don’t saturate it.
5. FILL THE COOKIE CUTTERS WITH THE BATH BOMB MIXTURE
The main bath bombs I wanted to make were the heart-shaped kind using cookie cutters. To make these, make sure you have a surface that you can leave your bath bombs to set for a few days — once the bath bomb mixture is in the cookie cutters, so won’t be able to move them easily. So, set a piece of parchment paper onto your clean work surface and set your cookie cutter on it. Then, just directly fill the cookie cutter with the bath bomb mixture and press firmly to really pack it in.
6. USE THE REMAINING MIXTURE TO MAKE REGULAR BATH BOMBS
With the remaining bath bomb mixture I had, I just created some ‘normal’ bath bombs. To start off, I took my stainless steel bath bomb mold and layered in one color at a time. Press each layer gently with your fingers. When one half of the bath bomb is full, take a little bit more of the bath bomb mixture and form a slight dome-shape to overflow the mold. Set that half of the mold aside and repeat with the other half of the mold.
Then, over a large bowl, firmly press both halves of the bath bomb mold together to combine. The excess mixture will fall down into the bowl and you can use it toward your next bath bomb.
To release from the mold, gently twist the top half until you feel it loosen from the bath bomb. Remove the top half of the mold and repeat with the bottom half of the bath bomb mold.
7. SET ASIDE TO HARDEN
Set your bath bombs aside to harden for 24-72 hours. I just always wait the 72 hours just to be sure, but you can use your bath bombs after a few hours after you make them. After 72 hours, they’ll be super hard just like the LUSH ones. With the cookie cutter bath bombs, gently just remove the bath bomb by slowly working off the cookie cutter around each side.
8. ENJOY
To use your Valentine’s Day bath bombs, just drop it into your hot bath and enjoy the sight and smell.
