I’ve been using my Sunday Riley Good Genes all-in-one lactic acid treatment for over a month now and I am so excited to do a review. Here’s a look at what Good Genes is, and my experience using it for a month:
WHAT IS GOOD GENES?
Good Genes is a lactic acid treatment that claims to exfoliate and clear pores. The treatment is also supposed to help your skin look more radiant and plumped. With continued use, Good Genes is supposed to help with hyperpigmentation and visible signs of aging. Sunday Riley’s Good Genes is meant for all skin types and ages.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH SUNDAY RILEY – GOOD GENES
I had never used a chemical exfoliant, but was super excited to try Good Genes after reading so many positive reviews.
My 1.7oz bottle came in a hard box with padding for protection. The bottle feels weighty and substantial, and the pump seems sturdy. The 1.7oz. bottle was $158.
When I first received my Good Genes, I applied one pump each night after I washed my face. I was surprised how much product came out with just one pump — it was enough to cover my entire face and a little down my neck. Good Genes is a milky, lotion-like consistency, and I just gently rubbed it in/spread it onto my face.
The next morning, my skin was visibly smoother and more plump looking. I was super impressed to see such immediate results. After two nights, I was already planning on when to buy my next bottle — I loved it so much.
On the third night, the Good Genes stung a little after I put it on. The stinging lasted about 5 minutes, and I just thought that it meant it was “working”. I kept using Good Genes every night that first week, but by the 7th day, my skin felt dry in the morning so I decided to take a break from using Good Genes every day until the dryness balanced out (10 days!).
Since then, I’ve been using Good Genes every other night and I am in love. My skin is smoother, softer, and appears brighter. I feel like my pores are less visible, and my makeup goes on really nicely, but I feel like my skin doesn’t even need any makeup.
I layered Good Genes on top of the Juno Hydroactive Cellular Oil the last few nights, and I feel like it really soaks deep into my skin. It’s been just over a month now, and I am loving the results.
Because this is a chemical exfoliant, your skin may be extra sensitive to the sun. It is recommended to use a sunscreen every day and for a week after stopping using it. I wear my Josie Maran Argan Moisturizer with SPF 47 everyday anyway, but I am extra aware of being in direct sun for too long.
I definitely recommend Good Genes, and I will be repurchasing when I run out. I feel like my skin just looks fresh and radiant now. Very pleased with Sunday Riley’s Good Genes! If you are ok with the splurge, and are looking for a skincare treatment that works, definitely get Good Genes.
