End the Year Strong | 4 Ways to Get Your Life Right

Guys! Can you believe that it’s October?! Whether you’re surprised at how fast it came, or if you’re shocked that it’s only October, there are 88 days left in 2018. What you do with those 88 days is up to you — here are my tips / things I am doing myself to end the year strong.

DON’T GIVE UP

As we enter into autumn and start winding down in the year, it can be easy to kind of slip into a more relaxed mindset when it comes to responsibilities and your goals. Maybe you’ve let go of a goal you made at the beginning of the year and thought, “I’ll just start fresh next year.” Well, you don’t need new year to start “fresh”. You can restart your goals today and finish the year strong.

You can even take this time to start a new goal and work to accomplish it within these last three months. That’s totally enough time to make an impact on your goals — in three months, I lost 30 pounds. You can do it too — whatever your goals are! Don’t just give up because it seems like you aren’t trending to accomplish a goal. By ramping up your effort at the end of the year, you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve and you’ll also put yourself in a better position for next year.

PURGE THE CLUTTER FROM YOUR LIFE

The end of the year is a great time to start purging out your closets and really cleaning/organizing everything. I did an entire post on things to purge from your life in 2018, and there is still time to take care of it and get your life right. Now that summer is over, go through all of those warm-weather clothes and ask yourself — did I wear this shirt this year? Do I love it? Are there some things that aren’t in good condition or that I don’t need anymore? Don’t hold onto things “just in case”. That moment may never come and you are just lugging “things” around with you for no reason. Take this time to really clean out your closets, drawers, storage boxes, whatever — if you haven’t used it all year, what are you doing with it?

Make room for the things you use and love!

BE RESPONSIBLE WITH YOUR HEALTH

This tip is huge for me! Do you need to go to the dentist?  Have you been procrastinating on scheduling that doctor’s appointment? Your health is so important and if you neglect to take care of simple things now, it could create bigger issues down the road. Knock out any appointments you need to make and take care of yourself! (I literally stopped writing this post to schedule a dental cleaning for next week.) It may seem annoying to have to do, or you’ve been putting it off for so long that you’re afraid of what they’ll say, but it’s always worth it to make your health a priority.

FINISH OUTSTANDING THINGS

Does your car need servicing? Do you have a bill you need to settle? Have you been procrastinating cleaning out the garage? Is there a book you wanted to finish reading? Whatever your “outstanding” thing is, there is no reason to wait. Consider this the friendly little push you need to take action today. If you have a project that you’ve been working on, or if you’re trying to start a new project — today is the day! Even if you can make small steps towards finalizing these outstanding items, you’ll feel so much better. And you may even see that they weren’t as overwhelming or daunting as you thought.

Remember, the year is not over — there is still time to handle things and get your life right, but you have to start now and finish strong. I encourage you to just make a list of everything you want to do for the year and to not give up on them. Take care of yourself and help to set yourself up for success by knocking your list out. You can do it!
