I always see these cute sequined backpacks at Disneyland, but I wasn’t in love with the colors available until I found this super cute Little Mermaid purple one!
In researching, I found out that the maker of these cute backpacks, Loungefly, creates special “Disney Parks only” merchandise and regular “Disney” merchandise. You can only get the Disney Parks products inside Disneyland/Disney World, but the regular merch can be bought online. This Ariel Sequined Mini Backpack is not a Disney Parks exclusive; you can buy it online!
This backpack is gorgeous; it’s so beautiful in person. I thought it was pretty online, but the product photos weren’t very clear and I couldn’t see all the detail.
FIRST LOOK
This is my only Loungefly bag, but it looks to be the same size as all of their mini backpacks. It measures 12″ H x 9″ W x 6″D including the front zipper pouch.
The bag is covered in the cutest, most sparkly sequins on the front and sides. There is a Disney x Loungefly logo block right in the middle of the bag.
The back of the bag and shoulder straps are made of an iridescent vinyl material. It looks very 80’s or very future. The straps are plush and padded and there is a loop at the top to hold.
There are two pouches, one on each side of the bag. They are pretty tight, but there’s a slight stretch to them. You definitely couldn’t fit a water bottle in them.
There is a pretty large zipper pouch in the front. You could definitely fit a lot in here. There is a silver Ariel cutout on the front of the zipper pouch.
The main compartment has two zippers that say “loungefly”. The inside is lined with purple ‘The Little Mermaid’ fabric with Ariel, Flounder, and a pattern of shells and seahorses.
WHAT FITS INSIDE A LOUNGEFLY BACKPACK
When I was researching this bag, or other Loungefly backpacks, I couldn’t find clear pictures or videos about what fit inside. I’ve looked at these types of bags in the Parks, but it’s hard to know what can really fit inside. Now that I have my bag, I wanted to show how I pack it and what fits.
I can squeeze in my iPhone 8 Plus without the case into the side pocket, but I definitely wouldn’t wear it like that since so much sticks out. So far, I just hold my sunglasses inside; they feel secure and are easy to access.
Here’s a look at my Loungefly Ariel Sequined Mini Backpack compared to my Fjallraven Kanken Mini Backpack:
Both bags are pretty similar in size. The front zipper compartment is much larger on the loungefly bag. I can easily store my cards, and keys in there. But overall, I can fit so much more into my Kanken since the top of the bag is square and not tapered off like the loungefly bag. INITIAL IMPRESSION
This backpack is so pretty. I love the color and the sequins; it looks so electric but soft at the same time. I’m really happy with the size and I feel like this is a perfect bag to take to the Park, but I have been wearing it out as my normal da bag.
The backpack appears to be good quality. The zippers are really smooth and nice; the sequins seem secure; and the straps are padded. It definitely seems durable which is important to me as a daily use bag or as a park bag.
Wearing the backpack feels really comfortable, but I haven’t ever loaded it up fully. I wish there was a divider or a zipper pocket inside the main compartment, but I use a lot of pouches anyway, so it’s not a big deal. Also, the straps are pretty long. The backpack hangs kind of low even with the straps at the tightest/shortest length.
Also, I don’t really feel comfortable keeping valuables in the outer zip pouch just for safety reasons. On my Kanken, I use a s-clip to keep the zippers “locked” and that works really well for me, but there is so much distance between the front and main zippers on this Loungefly bag that I can’t really do that.
Overall, I am in love with this backpack. I think it is so pretty and the perfect bag to wear at Disneyland!
