There’s something really special about the start of a new year; it feels fresh and full of possibilities. But that fresh start can happen whenever you choose to begin a new thing, not just on January 1st. This year, I am continuing to be intentional with my purchases and my spending, and I’m participating in a no-buy. Here are the three things I’m not buying this year:

The Flax Sweater by Tin Can Knits was the first sweater I ever knit. I first tried it out by knitting a child version for my niece, and then felt confident enough to make one for myself. While I was knitting my Briochevron Blanket, I started looking for my next fun project. I am still newer to knitting, but I feel like I’ve knit a good variety of items that I am confident researching new techniques and executing a pattern. I wanted a challenging project and I found a really pretty cabled sweater, but I thought it would be too advanced for me.
I’ve been actively trying to train my curly hair to be curlier/accentuate my natural curl pattern through the Curly Girl Method (CG Method) for about 1.5 years now. I had stopped heat styling, using sulfates or silicones, and even started wearing more protective hair styles, but then I noticed my hair was falling out!
